Triangle - "Four-in-One" 60 degree Equilateral Triangle 6 inch Acrylic Template - WINDOW-Style - 3/8 inch Seam Allowance. (1 piece)
I have designed this single template to accurately draw 4 different triangle sizes: with a finished edge of either 6 inch, 3 inch, 2 inch or 1.5 inch.This is a terrific tool for portable hand-stitching projects - you will love the simplicity and convenience, as there's only one template to carry!
Each size triangle shape can either be used on its own, or in combination with others, to form a variety of traditional quilt block patterns, where the finished edge measurement is 6 inches. For example (see photo above):
- 1 Triangle (using 6 inch edge)
- 4 Triangles (using 3 inch edge)
- 9 Triangles (using the 2 inch edge)
- 16 Triangles (using the 1.5 inch edge).
Or you can join three 6 inch triangle blocks to make a 12 inch finished triangle shape.
Some of the traditional quilt blocks which feature triangles are "Joseph's Coat", "Streak o' Lightening", "Flat Iron Patchwork", "Thousand Pyramids", "Dogstooth", "Lightening Streaks", "Trip to Egypt", "Sugar Loaf" etc. For more ideas check out the traditional block encyclopaedias by Barbara Brackman or Maggie Malone, or on-line websites. Or use your imagination and design something original - the possibilities are endless!
This "WINDOW" version includes a 3/8 inch seam allowance. The inside edge allows you to draw the sewing line, and the outside edge is the cutting line. (Please see alternate listing if you'd prefer a 1/4 inch seam).
Also included: etched measurements, and blunted corners on the three external acute angles. (Just swivel the template around to draw blunted corners on the fabric for the smaller triangle shapes).This template is individually precision cut for accuracy with myLaser-Cutter, and hand-polished. The template is laser-cut from 1/8th inch thick (3mm) Plexiglass / Cast Acrylic.
